It has been so long since I posted something new. I have to apologize for my disappearance. Very busy and lots of things going on at the same time. Now I am back and hopefully I can start posting more often the new cakes and the ones I have done and never had the chance to show it here too!
I had this fun cake to do this weekend. I am normally afraid of too much color just because once you put in it is all over, no chance for change, so I always prefer to be on the safe side. This time was different I was asked to give a pop of color just because the birthday girl has bright pink and green as her favorite color. I loved the bright pink dress with the lime green fondant details! The color matched the invitation and everything around it! Fun and cute, a dream for any lucky birthday girl out there. I was so happy with the final product and I hope it made the sweet birthday girl smile from ear to ear!
Debora, She is beautiful, I’m sure the birthday girl just loved her Barbie. Great job!! I hope the candles come soon. let me know. Love, Carolyn

Malia loved her cake!!! It looked amazing and it tasted wonderful!! Thank you so much for doing this on short notice and for my one and only bday princess!
What is the amount of frosting used in this cake?
Dear Pauletta,
I used around 4 cups of buttercream.
I hope this can help you!
Debora.
You are very welcome! Happy I can help you!
How did u make the color bright pink or hot pink?
I just used food coloring to match the color pallet of the birthday invitation. Sometimes you have to use 2 different shades to get the color you wish for. I hope this can help you! Thanks for stopping by! Debora.
Would you be able to tell me which tip you used to make the rosettes on the dress? I am making a cake like this, this weekend, but haven’t made rosettes such as these, before. It would be so helpful to know the tip number. Thank you so very much! It’s beautiful, by the way. Your work is flawless!
Hello Julia!
Thanks so much for your kindness.
I used 1M star tip from Wilton. It is the big one. I am sure you can get from any other brand. A tip for you is first practice on a flat surface starting and finishing with the same motion (right to left or left to right) and you will have the same rosette. I hope I could help you for your fabulous creation this weekend!
Excellent! I have exactly that tip! And thanks for the tip to practice on a flat surface, first. I will definately do that. I very much appreciate your help!
You are welcome! Good luck with your creation! I know you can do it! Debora.
Debora,
This Barbie is beautiful and just what my Granddaughter is hoping I can make for her 5th birthday this weekend but in purple of course. May I ask how many cake layers and what size/sizes you used? I’ve looked at many of these cakes for inspiration but what I really like about yours is how proportional the dress is to the doll. I think she is just perfect. Love your work!
Thanks so much Julie!!
You are so kind and sweet.
I am so happy you like my work.
I am sure you can do a fabulous job.
I started with an 8 inches cake, then two 6 inches, one 4 inches and sometimes I put another one that can be a 4 or a 3 inches. All will depend how much your cake will rise.
Don’t be afraid of carving. Lots of cakes are coming out otherwise will not be proportional.
No cake goes to waste ok? Save all your carvings to make some cake balls another day!
I hope I helped you and happy birthday to your granddaughter!
Debora.
HI! This is a beautiful cake! I will be attempting a cake like this for my daughter’s upcoming birthday. Did you have to take the legs off of Barbie to put her on the cake? I ordered the Wilton cake mold, but maybe I should just make layers as you did! Have you ever used the Wilton mold?
Hello
Thank you so much! You are very kind!
I never used a mold to make this type of cake. I am sure it works. I do not have to take the legs off. Depends on your design.
I hope this helps you! Good luck to you and I am sure your daughter will be so happy and so proud of her mom!
Best regards, Debora.
Thanks for stopping by!
How many boxes of cake mix would you use….1-2?
Hello,
Unfortunately I don’t know how many box of cakes you should use. All my cakes are made from scratch. You will need one 8 inches, 2 or 3 6 inches and one 4 inches. Maybe a little more depends on the height of your cake. Or maybe one 9 inches too in case you would like a wider skirt. I use lots of cakes when I make Barbie cakes. I hope this will help you with your project. Good luck!
How many servings did you get from this cake?
Hello! Depends how big you cut it. I would say between 20-25 small slices.
[…] found this updated Barbie cake on Sweet World of Cakes and wondered if I could do it. It turns out that the huge rosettes are easily made and the cake […]
Hi! I love this cake! Did you use a full size barbie and cut out circles from the cake layers and then stick wrapped barbie in? Or did you use a cake pick?
Thanks!
Hello, Thanks for stopping by.
It is a full doll and the cakes are carved after the doll is in it.
I hope this will help you! Good luck!
Debora.
Hi, I love the Barbie cake. I have just received a order for this cake, can you please tell me what price you would charge?
Kind regards
Teri
Hello Teri,
It is up to you and the place you leave. The price in NY is very different from a small city in another state. You can do a quick research about the price in you area. Good luck! Debora.
