I particularly love to make cakes for the little ones. Especially the one year olds that never had a taste of sweets before and are having the first taste with my cakes. I am so honored! I put all the best organic ingredients and all my love in their cakes. This was a 40-50 person cake with inspiration taken from the party’s invitation. Dark blue and red were the color pallet and the vintage theme was a hit. It had beautiful decorations, food and games in a fun summer day here in San Diego, CA. Perfect party day!!! The smash cake was buttercream matching with the fondant cake for the adults. I heard the birthday boy was really careful and gentle with his cake but he got his job done!!! Yeah! 🙂

I was inspired to make this cake after I watched Joshua John Russell teaching a modern buttercream class on Craftsy. He showed how to make a bow and I took the opportunity to incorporate it in this cake. It is amazing how much you can learn online but I still love to take classes in person.  The red roses are sugar flowers made especially for a 81 year old woman that got this cake as a gift. This was a chocolate cake for 40 people, with fresh raspberry jam and chocolate ganache. Black and red are her favorite colors. Very chic!!!

Black and Red Cake

Baby shower cake for Baby Mila. Mom liked bright colors and it was very specific with the design for the cake and cupcakes. The baby shoes were made of sugar for a keepsake. At first they thought they were fake! I am glad I told them they could eat them too. The flower cake pops were in a flower pot at the guest tables. The cupcakes were the party favor. I packaged 60 of them on a plastic cup and then on a bag with a pink satin bowls. Yeah, I put my hubby to work too that day!!! The mom to be saw it on a website and wanted to have the same exactly party favor for her baby girl shower and her guests to enjoy after. I don’t have a picture of the finished product, sorry! She was very pleased when everything came together. Her sisters-in-laws did a fabulous job decorating the place, matching everything and creating a unforgettable baby shower for her. It was a party for 60 people but the whole first tier was saved for another special day, plus they had lots of left over cake too!!! Who doesn’t like left over cake for later? The shower was on the hottest day of the season, it was around 100 degrees that day!!!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. How sweet are these cake pops?

I made the hearts from marshmallows because I did not have any other decoration and I did not have time to go to the store and buy something fun. I have never seen this decoration before. I am not checking every cake website possible, so I was so proud to come up with a different and sweet decoration for the love birds out there. If it is out there already, at least it felt like something new to me and I had fun making them to look like hearts. It looks so cute and it was an easy way to give a “heart” to a yummy treat.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
