This was a last minute order for a sweet Rapunzel fan that wanted the plastic doll on the top and 4 dozens of cupcakes. The buttercream cake was 2 shades of purple (what it is not showing in the picture), the banner and the figurines are not edible.

The cupcakes were made to tie the party together. I made some golden magical flowers and dusted them with gold luster dust and green Pascal chameleons. Those were  dusted after with  green petal dust. They were made with fondant.

Another doll cake that I loved so much to make. The little girls love the look and they are an instant decoration for the birthday table. I made this one the same way I always try to make my Barbie cakes. I carve the skirt of the dress to give it a special flow and then dress it up with colored fondant. To make even fancier I made a one piece dress.  Since it is cool here lately, I gave her a shawl to fancy it up a little bit.  She was luster dusted to give a special shine to her dress. I hope this cake brightens up your day as much it did for the birthday princess!!!

Ariel Pink Gown Cake

It is not a secret to anyone that Melody Brandon is my favorite cake decorator, the person who taught me my first cake decorating class around 4 years ago and keeps inspiring me with her beautiful creations and fresh ideas. WOW! Time flies by! We were talking about this yesterday afternoon, my daughter was 7 month when we first met and now she is 5!

I have to say that it took me way too long to go visit her new shop in Newport Beach, CA. Finally we made it and I am SO happy we all did!!

I am so lucky to be able to just get in my car and be there in less than one hour and have the most amazing time! I am not even counting the beautiful views on our way there.

It was a treat for me to be with Melody again, but it seems that my daughter was the one that had the best time ever and of course she stole the show! She was a kid in a candy store!!! Melody was so kind and made her feel at home, took her behind the counter with her, picked whatever she wanted and gave all the attention she was asking for.  As sweet as always, Melody made our day with the most delicious treats ever! We could catch up for a little while and I could see all her work in the latest magazines and books.

What a beautiful place and if you are around Newport Beach you should go taste the most amazing desserts and meet her in person! Check out her website  http://www.sweetandsaucy.com

Thanks Melody for the wonderful time together and for all the goodies that we keep talking about it!!! You are so kind, loving and generous as always!!! What a perfect day!!!

What don’t we do for our little ones, huh? My daughter just turned 5 and she is obsessed with mermaids. I would say Ariel is her favorite Disney character and every toy to be fun has to have a tail. So I decided making a tail cake for her. I sketched a 2 tier cake but at the last minute she looked at me and said: “I think 3 tiers would be cuter mom”. Of course I did another tier but did not know how much work I got myself into it. I cut 500 scales in 4 different colors. It took me 4 to 5 hours just to cover all the prepared fondant cakes with the scales! Yes it is lots of love for my little one.  The next day when she woke up she had her jaw dropping and gave me the biggest hug ever. Her words to me paid off the very hard and tedious “gluing” of scales for all those endless hours. This cake was one of my very favorite cakes I have ever made. Please don’t get me wrong I love them all but this one holds a special place in my heart just because I made it for my “mermaid” princess that I love so very much!!! She deserves it, doesn’t she?Mermaid Tale Cake

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. How sweet are these cake pops?

I made the hearts from marshmallows because I did not have any other decoration and I did not have time to go to the store and buy something fun. I have never seen this decoration before. I am not checking every cake website possible, so I was so proud to come up with a different and sweet decoration for the love birds out there. If it is out there already, at least it felt like something new to me and I had fun making them to look like hearts. It looks so cute and it was an easy way to give a “heart” to a yummy treat.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Heart Red Cake Pops

For this cake I started making the Sugar flower first and had the idea to try the new ombre technique I am seeing a lot lately and I am a big fan of it. I was supposed to make a cake for 20 people but this special cake would feed 40 easily! The birthday girl wanted cake to take back home so the first tier was all hers to enjoy with her family and loved ones the next day. It is made with 3 tones of pink but the picture is not showing that well. It was buttercream on the outside and inside was a chocolate cake with fresh strawberries and bittersweet ganache. The pink pedestal was perfect for this girly cake! I love to try new things and I was very pleased with the result. Definitely it was a pink weekend for me and my kitchen too!!! Thanks for stopping by.Pink Ombre Flower Cake

It has been so long since I posted something new. I have to apologize for my disappearance. Very busy and lots of things going on at the same time. Now I am back and hopefully I can start posting more often the new cakes and the ones I have done and never had the chance to show it here too!

I had this fun cake to do this weekend. I am normally afraid of too much color just because once you put in it is all over, no chance for change, so I always prefer to be on the safe side. This time was different I was asked to give a pop of color just because the birthday girl has bright pink and green as her favorite color. I loved the bright pink dress with the lime green fondant details! The color matched the invitation and everything around it! Fun and cute, a dream for any lucky birthday girl out there. I was so happy with the final product and I hope it made the sweet birthday girl smile from ear to ear!

Bright Pink Barbie

Snow White was my favorite princess growing up, maybe because we didn’t have so many options like now. She is gorgeous!

I made this cake for a 3 year old that had no idea she was getting it. Her grandfather ordered this cake and gave to her as a gift! How sweet was he? I heard after the party that she was in love with the cake and the parents couldn’t get enough of it. I placed a little apple on her hand just for fun but it wasn’t poisoned like my daughter was concerned about!!!

I love the way I have being making the skirt. I love to carve it just to have fluidity to it. I think the final product is pretty and natural. Of course you loose some cake in the process of carving but let’s sacrifice a little cake for the beauty, huh?

I always wondered how could I make such beauties. I see all the time at birthday parties, websites and stores. I decided taking a class called Mastering Macarons!! 🙂 It was so much fun. We were divided in 4 groups. Each group had 4 people. My group was in charge of Hazelnut Macarons with Praline Buttercream filling!!! WOW!!! That was just the beginning!!! For my first try ever I have to say that I was hooked!!! Yes, I took a class without even knowing how it would taste!!! I just knew I had to take that class and discover for myself. It was so much fun and my group had fun and very nice ladies working together.  At the end we had the chance to try the 4 flavors and take back home a plate full of this heavenly goodies!!! I have to say that I had my share of sugar for the whole week and I was definitely a very happy person yesterday!!! They are delish and fabulous looking. I have to thank Melody Brandon for starting to make them and induce my curiosity to go and try myself. She makes the most beautiful Macarons. I still have to stop by her shop Sweet and Saucy in Newport Beach and try hers and all the other goodies!! Can’t wait to start making them. The other flavors were: Banana Macarons with banana custard cream, pistachio Macarons with chocolate ganache and chocolate Macarons with salted caramel. The ones I made I hope you can tell but if you can’t a little hint they are light brown. I love taking classes and I am so lucky I can go once in a while to take something new, fun and delicious!!!

What a nice way to finish the weekend. I hope to see you soon!!! Happy week!!!

A boy’s dream just came true today when I saw his cute face amazed with the cake I baked him. I asked him when I was talking to his mom to decide the cake for his party, I normally ask my “costumers” doesn’t matter their age, and he told me he wanted a circle chocolate cake with all his super heroes. With that said I had to do my research on super heroes because here at my house we know everything about fairies, princesses and sparkles. I used to watch super heroes growing up with my older brother but it is always good to do your homework.  Since he was turning 4 I thought he deserved a 4 tiered cake!!! A tier for each year!!! Fun! Thanks to my husband for helping me in various steps through out the process but mostly to be able to lift and move every time I needed it!  It was so heavy! I am so pleased with the result and mostly to make part of Landon’s 4th birthday!
